Our Last Roll...

... for a while, at least!

We went bowling on March 23rd, and I have a feeling that will be our last trip to the lanes for a little while.

Jared had another great day bowling.  I had an alright day bowling.

Here are our scores!

Game 1

Game 1

Game 2

Game 2

4 bagger 1

During Game 3, Jared rolled 4 strikes in a row!

200

And that resulted in another 200 club moment!

Game 3

Game 4

Game 4

So, at least I won the first game.  I have been winning only 1 out of 4 lately, but that's okay, because I am very pregnant at this point.  My fingers don't fit inside my own bowling balls anymore, so I am rolling house balls.  Not to mention, my center of gravity changes almost daily.  That, and I have my very own 7-8 pound bowling ball in my belly that I carry around all the time.

Hopefully the next time I post scores it will be of our first family trip to the lanes with our little Spare!

Bowling with the Hubs

This past Friday, we went bowling!  Although neither of us really wants to admit it, we are nearing the end of our time bowling, at least for a little while.  And any of these trips to the lanes could be our last one until after the baby comes.  So, we are trying to take full advantage.

We both did relatively well on Friday.  It was a day where we both got turkeys!!!  It was exciting!

Here are some photos to show how our potential last day of bowling went...

During Game 2, I got my turkey! Jared was able to capture the moments following!

Game 3 was the game where Jared got his turkey! And he was very, very proud...

At some point during Game 3, this sweet little girl came over to us and smiled at me and pointed at my belly. After a fun little exchange that involved the words "baby," "big," and "belly," her dad came over and apologized for the distraction. She was super cute and sweet!  Based on the photo of our scores, I think it happened right after the 4th frame!

Overall, it was a great day bowling!  We ended up spending the rest of the evening with our good friends Chris and Amy!  They came over to our new house for the first time and ended up staying and talking about all the fun of living in SE Louisiana!

Three Weeks of Bowling

In the last four weeks, we have bowled three times.  We would have bowled last week, but Jared had tweaked a muscle after helping move some nursery furniture for my in-laws.  Alas, no bowling.

But the three weeks before that we had some awesome games!  Take a look below!

This was on February 17th.

New Balls

We ordered some new balls, and they had finally arrived!

And the reaction to Game 4's 200.

Needless to say, we were very excited when Jared bowled a 200!  He's done it one other time, more than a year ago.  He bowled a 212.

A few things to note...

The new balls have taken some getting used to.  Initially, Jared's holes were a little rough around the edges (insert funny innuendos here, and for the following paragraph).  So, we took it back to the pro shop and the guy sanded them down.  And the next week was much better.  But the March 2nd date was very rough for me.  I had had too much sodium that week, and neither of my balls were fitting right.  The finer holes on the new one were way too tight; and my old ball was barely much better.  So, we kind of decided that we'd try to keep bowling until Spare arrives, but I would most likely have to use a couple of house balls with large to x-large finger holes.  We are assuming that the swelling in my hands will go down after Spare arrives!

So, there you have it!  Three out of four weeks ain't too bad.  I'll definitely post again, IF we go bowling!

Bowling on the 27th

The hubs and I got to go bowling in late January!  We finally got into a fairly good routine with bowling, again, and we didn't suck nearly as much as we had in recent weeks.  This post will be fairly image-heavy, since the scores pretty much tell you how our trip to the lanes was.

But you should also note... We got a new fancy camera!  I used some Christmas money that my grandmother gave us (we were fiscally responsible with almost all of it; and then we divided up a little bit so each of us could have some spending/play money!) and ordered a new camera!  It's awesome!  I haven't really played with it that much, but you'll see that we used the "no flash" setting in order not to distract the other while we were bowling.  This means that some of the photos are out of focus, at least in the foreground.  But it's all about the pin action!

Overall, I was pretty consistent.  I got tired in the last game, as you can see.  But we had a really good time bowling!  And my new camera takes way better pictures than my iPhone!

Hopefully, we'll be able to go this week, even though we missed last week.

My next post will likely be on our nursery furniture!  It came in this past weekend, but we haven't quite got the nursery set up... We are having some electrical difficulties in the nursery and upstairs hallway; hopefully this will be remedied this week!  Once we get everything set, I'll post!

Sporadic Scores

Perhaps this is a mistitled post.  Perhaps it should be "Sporadic Bowling Outings with and without My Husband Over the Past Six Weeks, Roughly."  But that seemed a little bit too long of a title.

So, over the past six weeks or so, I have been bowling three times.  The first time was with Jared at Don Carter's on a Thursday night, I think.  This was right before we moved, so the details are a bit foggy.  I know that we didn't go to Circle Bowl because they had no open lanes for leagues that night.  But Don Carter's had a few open lanes.  So we headed over there.

The second time I went bowling was on my ordination day.  I will post on this later, but what you need to know here is that I had already signed my youth group up for an event called Bowling with the Bishop when I found out that I would be ordained the same day.  Because both of these events were in New Orleans, one at 10am and one at 4:30pm, it made for a very long day with some inconsistent scores!

The third time was just last week when we were in Dallas visiting family for Christmas.  It was a Friday night, which means there were lots of people at the lanes, and we went to Main Event in Plano TX.  If you've ever been to a Main Event, you know that it's not just a bowling alley, unfortunately.  They have laser tag, a bar with billiards, a video arcade, and the dreaded experience of galactic bowling.  So, we met one of Jared's friends from church youth stuff there (which was great) and bowled with a whole bunch of other folks who were looking for some fun on a Friday night.

Sadly, I don't have pictures of all of our scores, but here are the ones I do have, along with the other scores that I couldn't/didn't take pictures of!

Bowling with Bishop

Game 2

This was an interesting bowling event: I had several youth play with me the first game and then they had to leave early.  But it was my better game.  I had kind of forgotten to take a photo at all.  And then the second game, the Bishop was looking for a lane to roll on, as was the coordinator of the event.  There was some discussion among them as to whether or not they would like to bowl with me, since I bowl regularly.  As you can see, I was barely even a threat.  By that point in the day, I was doing well to just roll a few straight balls!  (Also note what happens when you let the youth type in the names!)

Overall, it has been good to bowl, but I have noticed that my scores are becoming less consistent due to my growing belly.  My center of gravity is changing and all the books tell me that my joints and ligaments are looser now than before- due to pregnancy hormones.  So, I am really not that consistent at this point.

But bowling is still fun and not really painful.  I get a little bit achy in my back the next day, but nothing to make me stop bowling!

Until the doctor tells me I can't anymore, I will keep on making trips to the lanes.  Now that Jared and I are a bit more settled in our new digs, our plan is to get back on a regular Friday afternoon bowling schedule.  Hopefully there will be more regular posts to come!

Too Early to Think...

... So, I'll blog instead!  The hubs just left for a meeting in Alexandria today.  We had the chance to eat breakfast together this morning, which was nice, but now I am too awake to go back to bed and too sleepy to do anything else.

We've been bowling a couple of weeks in a row, now.  It's been a great time on Fridays for us.  The only problem for me is that my form is changing (catch the dual meaning, there?), and so it is becoming more difficult for me to roll the ball the way I am used to rolling it.  So, often when I think I am rolling correctly, I pull to the right or the left and end up very frustrated.

Speaking of frustration...

This weekend, we are due to go to Jared's homecoming at his college. So, I am not sure if we'll have the opportunity to bowl, but if we do, we'll post scores next week!
